フランスのコンセプチュアルアーティスト、フレデリック・ディアリナス・サンチェス を中心とした展覧会「Judo Saga3」を開催いたします。 本展は、黒澤明監督の映画『姿三四郎(英題:Judo Saga)』から 75 年経た現在、柔道がビジュアル アートに与えた影響をテーマとした展示となります。「Judo Saga 3」にある 3 は、パリおよひ南仏の町セットでかつて行われた展示の第3弾で、黒澤映画には存在しない『姿三四郎 3』 を表しています。 この展示では、幾何学的抽象絵画の新たな視点を提示することを目指しています。

講道館柔道創始者である嘉納治五郎師範の教えやイヴ・クラインの柔道家としての軌跡を元 にサンチェスはフランス(パリ、セット、アルトキルシュ)やスペイン(マドリッド)での展示に加え、東京の講道館においてリサーチを重ねてきました。 

​

サンチェスによる絵画を中心に、ジャン=セバスチャン・グリル、セバスチャン・ルセニエ、シリル・ポ ルシェと協働した作品を展示いたします。 モノクローム絵画および柔道の歴史を紐解き、併せて写真、ヴィンテージゲーム、ミニマルアートの展示をいたします。

作家紹介：
フレデリック・ディアリナス・サンチェス Frédéric Dialynas Sanchez
1983 年フランス生まれ。2014 年 エコール・オフショア上海、2009 年 リヨン国立高等美術学校ポストデ ィプロマ取得。アーティストおよびインディペンデントキュレーター。抽象絵画、帰属意識、カルチュラ ルブリコラージュをテーマとして活動している。ベトナム(ハノイ、ホーチミン)、NY、ボストン、パリ、 マドリッド他でアーティストインレジデンスを経験。現在マドリッド Casa de Velázquez 滞在。

ジャン=セバスチャン・グリル Jean-Sébastien Grill
フランス ナンシー生まれ。2007 年メス国立高等美術学校 美術およびデザイン修士号取得。グラフィック デザイナー。活動は多岐にわたり、ウォールペインティング、カリグラフィー、木工、ビデオ、鍼といっ たあらゆる種類のメディウムに関心がある。 

セバスチャン・ルセニエ Sébastien Leseigneur
1984年フランス グラース生まれ。スイス(ジュネーヴ、ヴヴェイ)で活動するアーティストおよびキュレーター。2017 年より Frédéric Dialynas Sanchez と共に L’Éclair というプロジェクトをスタート。現在 Festival Images Veveyの プロダクションマネージャーを務めている。 

シリル・ポルシェ Cyril Porchet
1984年スイス ジュネーヴ生まれ。2011 年ローザンヌ美術大学 アートディレクション修士号取得。ヨーロッパ写真美術館やチューリッヒデザイン美術館での展示ほか。収蔵：ラリー・ガゴシアンコレクション。

 

 

75 years after Judo Saga, Akira Kurosawa’s first full length, Judo Saga 3 is a project dealing with the heritage of Judo and its impact on visual arts. The exhibition imagined by Frédéric Dialynas Sanchez offers to the audience a new vision of geometric abstraction. 

Guided by Master Jigoro Kano’s motto: “Minimum effort, maximum efficiency,” and following Yves Klein’s steps as a judoka, Frédéric Dialynas Sanchez have conducted research on dojos across the world. This exploration has led him to the Judo Club of Nice, the School of Paris, the Bushido Kwai Gymnasium in Madrid, and the Kodokan Judo Institute in Tokyo. 

Including a set of Dialynas Sanchez recent paintings, Judo Saga 3 also presents some collaborations made with other artists, featuring: Jean-Sébastien Grill, Sébastien Leseigneur and Cyril Porchet.

The project, including different mediums, dives into the history of the monochrome and of judo, producing a dialogue between photography and painting, vintage video games and geometric abstraction, domestic architecture, and minimal art. 

About artists: 
Frédéric Dialynas Sanchez is a French artist. His work focuses on abstraction, collective identities, and cultural bricolage. He has participated in numerous projects in Saigon, Hanoi, Shanghai, New York, Boston, Claremont, Montréal, Fujiyoshida, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Rome, Vienna, Marseille, and Paris. He is currently a member of the French Academy in Madrid. 

 

Jean-­Sébastien Grill (lives and works in Nancy, France) is a graphic designer passionate by Asia and Asian culture. Interested by all forms of creation, promoting an economy of means and simplicity of expression, his work is not frozen and may be in any form of artistic expression: wall painting, calligraphy, woodworking, video, acupuncture... His art allows him to reach out to others.

 

Sébastien Leseigneur (born in Grasse, 1984) is an artist and a curator leaving between Geneva and Vevey, Switzerland. Since 2017, he is a co-director of L’Éclair, a non-space artist-run project developed with Frédéric Dialynas Sanchez. Since 2018 he is a production manager for Festival Images Vevey, Switzerland’s first visual arts biennale. He was an associate curator at Centre de la Photographie Genève from 2012 to 2017 and for the Geneva photography Triennale in 2013 and 2016. In his different activities, he explores multidisciplinary forms of presenting/representation as well as critical thinking about visual culture, and more specifically its implications in all fields of contemporary society. He has been part of dozens of international exhibitions, events and publishing projects. Digital studies, poetics and politics are the main focuses of his research. 

 

Cyril Porchet (born in Geneva, 1984) is a photographer who started his study in photography in 2005, received the master degree for art direction at l’Ecole Cantonale d’Art et de Design de Lausanne (ECAL) in 2011. His work was rapidly recognized and awarded several prizes, including the prestigious “Prix fédéral Suisse de design”, three times. He has exposure to various museums and galleries, including the “Maison Européenne de la Photographie” (MEP) in Paris, and the “Museum für Gestaltung” in Zurich (Switzerland). His work is conserved in several collections, notably that of the well-known art dealer and collector, Larry Gagosian.
